With the holidays behind us and the winter blahs in full swing, there’s a great way to keep the joy in these gloomy days … simply keep tabs on what is happening downtown with our fabulous businesses so you can take part!

Our events may be on pause until our May 11 Wild about Shelbyville Arts & Music Festival but our businesses are still having fun promotions! Plus, on Feb. 3, Shelbyville’s Chocolate Walk is happening between 11am and 4pm! How fun! Participating shops will have special deals and treats! So far the following businesses will be taking part: Polkadotted Pineapple Boutique, Pineapple Paisley Boutique, Impress Boutique & Printing, The Green Bird, Pathelen Flower & Gift Shop, The Keepsake Shop, Serendipity Kandy Kitchen, The Paddock Coffee, Eats & Gatherings, McKinley’s Café, Dogwood Art Gallery & Studio, and Patchwork Soapery & Dairy Goat. More main join, so make sure you check out our Facebook page for the full listing.

The Chocolate Walk is another reason to get out and walk around our fabulous downtown!

Need more of a reason to head downtown? Well, have you noticed all the fun activities being offered? These are certain to chase the blahs away! Painting parties, music lessons, theatre auditions, health and wellness classes, yoga, fun at the library, and art focused classes. Let’s not forget retail therapy! Who doesn’t love an afternoon out shopping? You can even start out with a stop at one of our coffee shops, grab lunch (or dinner!), and even enjoy sweet treats! Do you like an adult beverage after a day out and about? Well, you can partake in that downtown as well!

We love to love local all year round but February is officially the month to Love Local! We will be showing all of our businesses some additional love and we encourage you to send us a love letter about your favorite business. We will be holding drawings and giving away Main Street Bucks all month long! If you see those little hearts go up around town, you’ll know it’s time!

Have you heard? March 8 will be Shelby Main Street’s 40th Anniversary! Yes … 40 years! We’ve been having so much fun learning about what was going on in our downtown 40 years ago all the way up to today. Thank you for sending us your favorite memories, stores, and events that have happened over the years … keep them coming! Would love photos of downtown, too!

We will be holding a reception on March 8 to celebrate our 40th Anniversary with you! More details will be available soon.

Let’s talk events. Our 3rd Annual Wild about Shelbyville Arts & Music Festival will be happening on May 11! It is a fun event that focuses on our local artists — from crafters to bakers to musicians to writers to painters and photographers! It’s a wonderful event that will take you around downtown with different vendors and activities at different locations. Registration is now open online at www.ShelbyMainStreet.com.

Thank you all for your support of our local businesses! Thank you for coming out to our events, sharing our information, and being involved! It’s takes a village and our village is absolutely fabulous!

Make sure to check out our website (www.ShelbyMainStreet.com) and Facebook for the latest happenings!

Remember… Shop Local — Eat Local — Enjoy Local — Love Local!

Looking forward to seeing you on Main Street!
