I am writing in support of Senate Candidate Aaron Reed. I have intimately known the Reed Family since my arrival in Shelby County in the fall of 1989. Candidate Reed’s father and I were Kentucky State Police Troopers honorably serving our community. The senior Mr. Chuck Reed was a community servant and was serving in the US Army. I know he instilled a great sense of community and pride in being American. Watching Aaron grow up involved in athletics and an Eagle Scout, I was not surprised when he enlisted in the US Navy and his success at becoming a Navy Seal. Upon his return to our Shelby County, he started a business and continued to nurture his children in the same Reed Family fashion.

In 2022, Aaron contacted me expressing interest in serving as State Senator in our District 20. Due to remapping (required following the 10-year census) our county was shifted to the State Senate District 7. Thus, requiring Aaron to campaign for two additional years, as the District 7 seat was in its second year. While, surely disappointed, Aaron remained adamant to serving his home community as a Kentucky Senator. Many would have abandoned their interest in becoming State Senator and simply pursued another available political vacancy. I admire Aaron’s sense of duty and determination, following what I am sure was devastating news.

I continue to support Aaron Reed as the best Senate Candidate representing District 7. Christian Family Man, Father (of school age children), Friend, Business Owner, Military Man, approachable. . .best hands down candidate.

Respectfully submitted and Personally composed by my hand,

Mark Moore, Sheriff of Shelby County
