Thank you to everyone who came out on March 1 to help us celebrate Shelby Main Street’s 40th Anniversary! I’ve shared with you that all year I’ll be highlighting different aspects of downtown over the past 40 years. On March 8 we officially start Shelby Main Street’s 40th Anniversary year and I can’t wait to share more about our fabulous downtown! I thought I would do a quick recap of what’s coming up, especially since we are just stepping into March, which means our spring events are right around the corner! Events are a big part of what we do as it provides opportunities for people to come into town to have some fun, shop, eat, and explore!

Our first event will be on Saturday, May 11, for our 3rd Annual Wild about Shelbyville Arts & Music Festival. This event is open to all makers and includes vendors, artists, musicians, authors, fun, and games! It’s a great way to come downtown and explore as this is a walk around town type of event.

Vendors are set up along Main Street and there will be two or three different locations for music, we even have our Bourbon, Bacon, and Butter Bake-Off Sweet or Savory taking place again this year!

Here are some of the events you’ll want to make sure you get on your calendar!

May 11 — Wild about Shelbyville Arts and Music Festival (including our Bourbon, Bacon & Butter Bake-Off)

May 18 — Family Game Night with Bingo at Stargazer Plaza

June 8 — Tentative is The RayByrd Quartet

If you would like to be a part of planning any of these events, please let me know! We are always looking for extra energy to add to the team!

Also, we are getting ready to do an updated building inventory with new photos. You’ll most likely see some of our volunteers out and about in March and April. This will help keep record of where our buildings and businesses are now.

Our businesses are absolutely fabulous and I’m excited to say that we’ll be adding a few new businesses to our village. They’ll be opening up mid to late March. Stay tuned!

Thank you all for your support of our local businesses! Thank you for coming out to our events, sharing our information, and being involved! It’s takes a village and our village is absolutely fabulous!

We are grateful for our community partners, German American Bank, Traditional Bank, Stock Yards Bank, and Independence Bank. We are also grateful for the support of our City, County, and Tourism. Thank you all!

Remember… Shop Local — Eat Local — Enjoy Local — Love Local!

So much to see and do downtown! I look forward to seeing you on Main Street!
