Derrick Bohannon, a Shelbyville native who lives in Jensen Beach, Fla., birdied the second extra hole to capture the Club Fit Classic at Ironhorse County Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Monday.

  • Sheppard: ’96 Cats better than ‘...

Indiana and Vanderbilt were the only teams to beat the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team in its memorable march to the national title this past season.

  • This bird’s name is well-deserved

This is one of my favorite birds, and the major reason because it is well known in the bird world as the "King of Song."

It is the very best of the mockers and can duplicate the songs of at least 30 different bird species in rapid succession. Each phrase of the songs can be repeated two to six times, but it is usually three times.

Add to this a variety of sounds from whistles to barks, and you may even hear the tinkling sound of a piano or the sound of a squeaky hinge.

    So far, so good.

“He seems like a real good coach,” senior-to-be Kam Bruner said.

My first impression of George Cottrell will also be my lasting memory of him.

  • Hicks plays again in Shelby –...

It wasn’t quite a homecoming for Darryl Hicks, considering he still lives in Shelbyville.

However, Wednesday was his return to a basketball court in Shelby County.

Hicks, a senior-to-be at Trinity, and his Shamrocks came back from an early double-digit deficit to defeat host Collins, 93-66, in boys’ summer basketball.
