  • North Oldham knocks Titans from region

     The Collins baseball team jumped into 8th Region Tournament play Saturday blistering hot, drilling Carroll County 13-3 in just five innings, but the Titans cooled against region favorite North Oldham in the second round.

    The Mustangs would prevail 8-3, knocking the Titans from postseason play.

  • Rockets, Titans prepare for State

     Both the Titans and Rockets track teams will head to the University of Kentucky Track and Field Complex Friday to compete in the two-day KHSAA State Meet after both completed impressive runs in the 2A Region 3 meet on May 18.



  • Tourism saves local fireworks show

    Shelbyville/Shelby County Parks and Rec’s yearly fireworks show was in trouble, but another local organization swooped in to save the day.

    ShelbyKY Tourism Commission and Visitor’s Bureau Executive Director Katie Fusenegger said the rescue of the yearly tradition was not atypical for the department. The department even helps fund The Boom in Simpsonville.

  • ‘Efficient as possible’

     Despite finishing the season 10-13, the Shelby County Rockets topped Spencer County 5-1 to open 30th District Tournament play and punch a ticket to the 8th Region Tournament, which gets underway Saturday at Simon Kenton.

    The Rockets faced cross-town rival Collins in the 30th District title game, falling 11-1, so Shelby is getting back to basics to prep for the region tourney, where they’ll face host Simon Kenton Saturday at 5 p.m. in Independence.

  • Tough schedule proves tough Titans

     After winning the 30th District Championship 4-1 over the Spencer County Bears Monday, the Collins softball team looks to keep momentum going as it preps for the 8th Region Tournament at Simon Kenton High School.

    The Titans (19-10, 10-2 in the 8th Region) are in the midst of seven-game winning streak dating back to back-to-back wins over Ryle and Jeffersontown in the Creek on the Rise Challenge on May 11.

  • Hot hitting Titans

     After winning the 30th District Tournament Championship with an 11-1 win over Shelby County, the Collins baseball team looks to keep momentum going in the 8th Region Tournament at Simon Kenton.

    Heading into the district on a four-game skid, the Titans erupted behind the plate scoring 24 runs in two games. Titans head coach Mike Hammond credited the team’s fresh focus for its success behind the plate.
