  • Shelby County Sheriff's Reports Oct. 26, 2011



    Kenneth Riddle, 47, of 435 E.  Brandies Ave. in Louisville was served Sept. 6 at the Detention Center with a Jefferson County warrant for flagrant nonsupport.

    Amelia F. Meadows, 50, of 635 Booker Pike was arrested Sept. 6 on 5th Street on a Henry County warrant for probation violation on a misdemeanor offense.

    Robert Mitchell Spangler, 58, of 406 Pine Creek Road in Mayking  was served Sept. 8 at the Detention Center with a Virginia warrant for being a fugitive from another state.

    District court

    The following cases were heard by Judge Kevin Delahanty:

    Kristopher L. Bryant, operating on suspended/revoked operator's license – pleaded guilty – 10-day sentence, serve 5 days and $393 fine and costs.

    Edy A. Arturo, failure to wear seat belts, no operator's/moped license and first-offense failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance – pleaded guilty – 30-day sentence conditionally discharged for 2 years and $918 fine and costs.

  • Police seeking homeless woman with mental issues

    Police are looking for a woman who has been making threatening phone calls to various police agencies throughout the state.

    Kentucky State Police say they believe that the woman, Beverly Jean Feathers, 52, who they think is living in her car, could be in this area, or possibly in the Jefferson, Fayette or Rowan County areas. 

  • I-64 shut down by 2 crashes

    A crash on Interstate 64 Thursday night shut down the highway in both directions.

    The accident caused such a traffic tie-up because it involved two semi-tractor trailers and a pickup truck that crashed on both sides of interstate at the same time at the 35th mile marker, which is near the Mount Eden Road exit.

    One person was airlifted to a Louisville hospital, and a second person was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

  • Shelbyville Police Reports Oct. 19, 2011


    Dustin F. Pavey, 32, of an unknown address was arrested at 110 Beechwood Ave. and charged with second-degree robbery (strong arm), two counts of third-degree criminal mischief and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

    Alejandro Ramirez, 21, of an unknown address was arrested Oct. 6 on Midland Boulevard and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.

    The following cases were heard by Judge Linda Armstrong:

    Gregory J. Combs, obstructed vision and/or windshield and possession of marijuana – plead guilty – $364 fine and costs.

    Jamus L. Martin, theft by deception – guilty – $174 costs.

    Sarah Russell, third-degree criminal trespassing – plead guilty – $194 fine and costs.

    Wallace Scott Shouse, possession of marijuana – plead guilty – $394 fine and costs.

  • Shelby County Grand Jury Indictments

    Jeffery D. Conn, 41, of 400 Main St. No. 3 was indicted for second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and being a persistent felony offender.

    Joseph Hacker, 25, of 602 South Poplar St. in Brownstown, Indiana, and Kendra Rae Campbell, 21, of 202 Evergreen Court in Clarksville, Indiana, were indicted for second-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking over $500, complicity.

    Raymond J. Holland, 41, of unknown address was indicted for failure to comply with the sex offender registry.

    Megan G. Scherff, 26, of 2768 Mulberry Pike in Pleasureville was arrested Sept. 14 on Midland Trail and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense and driving with an obstructed windshield or vision.

    David W. Shouse, 47, of 2181 Waddy Road was arrested Sept. 17 on Waddy Road and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs under aggravating circumstances, second offense.

  • Woman killed in traffic accident Saturday in Spencer, Shelby woman injured

    A Shelbyville woman was injured and a Taylorsville woman killed Saturday afternoon in a traffic accident in Spencer County, north of Taylorsville.

    Lorna M. Collins, 33, of 1228 Cambridge Drive, Shelbyville, was injured and Shirley P. Belcher, 71, of 763  Normandy Station Road in Spencer County, died as a result of injuries sustained from being ejected from a vehicle.

  • Shelby woman recognized by KSP

    Laura Monroe (center), daughter of Shelbyville residents Carla and the late Hart Winans, received Monday a Commercial Vehicle Support Award from Kentucky State Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer (right) and Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Secretary J. Michael Brown. A 10-year KSP employee, Monroe is an administrative specialist III with the KSP commercial vehicle enforcement division in Frankfort.
