  • Katherine Ophelia Searcy Martin

    Katherine Ophelia Searcy Martin, 91, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007.

    She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Searcy, and by her second husband, John Martin. She is also survived by a son, Donnie Earl Searcy, of Frankfort; brothers Jackie Butts, of Frankfort, and John Butts, of Mount Eden. The funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Shannon Funeral Home.

    Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday.

    Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

    Expressions of sympathy may be made to Waddy Christian Church.

    Donald Martin Nation, 77, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007.

    He is survived by his wife, Nellie Cook Nation, of Shelbyville.

    The funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Shannon Funeral Home.

    Visitation is 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Burial will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery.

    Paul C. Rankin, 68, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007.

    He is survived by his wife, Elaine Stivers Rankin; sons Robert "Bobby" Rankin, of Shelbyville, Paul Rankin Jr., of Franklinton, and Todd Rankin, of Eminence; daughters Paula Chelf, of Crestwood, and Elizabeth "Betsy" Potts, of Fisherville; a brother, Jerry Rankin, of Campbellsburg; sisters, Julia Dixon, of Eminence, and Rebecca Durrett, of New Castle; and eight grandchildren.

    The funeral was Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Pleasureville Baptist Church. Burial was in Pleasureville Cemetery.

    Rev. Bert W. Smith, 74, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007.

    He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Fay Thompson Smith, of Shelbyville; daughters, Lynn T. Smith, of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Elizabeth W. Smith, of Frankfort; a son, John Stephen Smith, of Shelbyville; and a sister, Jane Kay Smith Frye, of Frankfort.

    The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Shelbyville First Christian Church.

    Rose Walker Clarke, 73, of South Shelby House, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007.

    Graveside services was Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville.

    Survivors include sons James Edward Thrasher, of Louisville, and Scotte Givens Clarke, of Shelbyville; a brother, Ezra Lee Walker Jr., of Atlanta; sisters Esabell Francis Conley, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Lillian Louise Oliver, of Ocala, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    He is survived by his wife, Susan Marie Gordon-Colbert; stepchildren Michael Thomas Gordon and Kayla Marie Gordon, both of Shelbyville; his parents, Claudia Colbert and A. Glen Colbert, both of Shelbyville; and a brother, Glen Colbert Jr., of Louisville.

    The funeral was Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Shannon Funeral Home.

    Burial was in the Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood.

    She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lane Perry; a brother, John Haydon; sisters Sara Adams, Lois Wainscott and Katherine Gaddie.

    She is survived by her husband, Louis Pope; a daughter, Melody House Daly, of Frankfort; a son, Eddie Pope, of Frankfort; and a brother, Donnie Haydon, of Waddy.

    The funeral was Thursday, Nov. 8, at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home.

    Burial was in Sunset memorial Gardens.

    Kenneth J. Myers, 67, of Shelbyville, formerly of Philadelphia, died Nov. 1, 2007.

    He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Crumlish Myers; children Kenneth J. Jr. Myers, Scott M. Myers, of Shelbyville, and Michael T. Myers; and eight grandchildren.

    Visitation for retirees of PGW, members of VR-52 and VP-66 of Willow Grove NAS and other friends and family is 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, and 8:15-9:15 a.m. Nov. 8, at the John P. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie King.

    He is survived by his father and stepmother, Sherman and Phyllis King, of Shelbyville; brothers Sherman Lee King Sr., of Frankfort; Ralph King and Mark King, both of Eminence; sisters Linda Keown, of Eminence; and Patricia Ann Utley, of Louisville.

    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at the Shannon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.
