    Cub Scout Pack 511 took their Bear and Webelos Dens to visit Shelby County EMS. Jerrett Barnes gave them a tour of their new location and helped the Webelos earn their Readyman Activity Badge. Pack 511 meets on Monday nights at Highland Baptist Church.

  • ACSI regional science fair

    Cornerstone Christian Academy students participated in the ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) regional science fair. Students with red ribbons earned excellent and blue ribbons earned superior awards. Additionally, Opal Best and Jon Dudinskie were both recipients of “Judge’s Choice” awards. Students were (from left) Jack Jessee, Grace White, Opal Best, Waylen White, Edison Hendricks, Jon Dudinskie, Lara Barbour and Adam Doyle.

  • Cub Scout meet and greet CHS varsity players

    Cub Scout Pack 511 from Highland Baptist Church had the opportunity to meet and greet Collins High School varsity basketball players. The Cub Scouts and ballplayers had pizza, and the high school boys talked about how important it is to be a team player. The basketball players took the Cub Scouts to watch the girl’s game and mentor to the young scouts. In only its second year of existence, Pack 511, in first through fifth grades.

  • Mathcounts finals next week

    Middle-school students representing 51 schools from across Kentucky will compete in the 2014 Mathcounts “State” Competition at 9 a.m. on March 22 at the Holiday Inn on Hurstbourne Parkway in Louisville.

    These students are advancing from chapter competitions that were held Feb.15-22 at 13 different locations.

  • EMS student council visits capitol

    The East Middle School Student Council took a field trip to the state capitol and met state Rep. Brad Montell (R-Shelbyville) and state Sen. Paul Hornback (R-Shelbyville). Council officers are Caleb Collins, president; Marcus Collins, vice president; Dakota Hardin, treasurer; Elizebeth Snyder, secretary; and Lily Husband, public relations coordinator.
