Today's Features

  • An estimated 1,450 people were served at this year's Christmas at Claudia's at Claudia Sanders Dinner House Sunday. Low-income families were invited to the event to receive a free meal and toys.

    Event organizers said the event cost from $25,000 to $30,000 to put on. Numerous local businesses, organizations and individuals volunteered and donated time and money to make the event happen.

  • Many Shelby County High School students, teachers, and school organizations are actively involved in creating a happy holiday season for the residents of Shelby County.

    "This community involvement shows the compassion and caring of SCHS," said Assistant Principal Cathy Redmon.

    Examples of past and current programs sponsored at SCHS to assist those in need are:

    Junior Home Builders built a playground during the Thanksgiving season for a family.

  • Monday -- Cheese pizza or ham sandwich, mustard/salad dressing, green beans, sun chips, pickle spear, oranges, applesauce or fruit cocktail, milk

    B = Sausage biscuit or oatmeal

    Tuesday -- Hamburger/cheeseburger or chili dog, French fries, ketchup/mustard, salad dressing/mayo, lettuce/ tomato, pickle/onion, oranges, applesauce or fruit cocktail, milk

    B = Sausage pancake bites or breakfast bun

  • Public can attend

    Dec. 13 -- Shelby County Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. at 403 Washington St.

    Dec. 17 -- Shelbyville Water and Sewer Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. at 1059 Washington St.

    Dec. 18 -- Triple S. Planning and Zoning meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Stratton Center.

    Dec. 18 -- Fiscal court meets at 10 a.m. at the Stratton Center, 215 Washington St.

    Dec. 19 - The Housing Authority of Shelbyville Board of Commissioners meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Housing Authority Administrative/Community Building.
