    The City of Shelbyville, Department of Public Works will offer leaf pick-up through Friday.  Leaves must be bagged in strong garbage bags and tied, with a 50-pound weight capacity. They should be placed on the curb, not blocking the sidewalk or street. Residents must call the department, 633-1094, to get on the list for pick-up.

    Shelby Christian Church is accepting signups for a spring ballet/tap classes beginning today for ages 3- to 10-years-old. Classes meet on Tuesday afternoon and evening. The cost is $85 or $95 with the registrations due by Jan. 9 or as soon as class fills. Classes begin on Jan. 13 and end with a recital on May 9. Space is limited in each class.     Tickets are on sale for SCCT’s production of A Christmas Story, by Philip Grecian, Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown and Bob Clark. Performances are Thursday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 adults, $12 seniors and $10 students. For reservations, call 502-633-0242.     The Court Appointed Special Advocates for children (CASA) fundraiser “Christmas in the Courtyard” will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Wakefield-Scearce Gallery. There will be excellent food, spirits and music by the Bob Giltner Group. This is a fundraiser to support volunteers who advocate in court for children who have been abused or neglected.
