  • Clarkson-McMichael wedding

    Tiffany Clarkson and Timothy McMichael were married Dec. 31, 2011, at Plum Creek Baptist Church.

    Parents of the bride are Joshua and Rita Clarkson of Shelbyville. The groom is the son of David and Frances McMichael of Taylorsville.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father.

    Maid of honor was Stephanie Clarkson of Shelbyville, sister of the bride.

    Bridesmaid was Beth McMichael of Taylorsville, sister of the groom.

    Best man was Brad McMichael of Taylorsville, brother of the groom.

  • SCHS Homecoming court

    Shelby County High School will choose a basketball Homecoming queen from the court it announced Monday. The senior queen candidates are (seated, from left) Sarah Bryant, Amy Curtsinger, Alyson Downey, Julia Kennedy, Haleigh Olsson and Devyn Patterson. The court members are (standing, from left) freshmen Cali Mills and Macy Greco, sophomores Hailey Coffey and Rachel McClain and juniors Abigail Siegel and Shelby Hargrave.

  • Wood-Goetzinger wedding

    Katherine Thomas Wood and Aaron John Goetzinger were married Jan. 7, 2012, at Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville.

    Parents of the bride are Sarah Smith Wright of Clay Village and Joey Wood of Elmburg. The groom is the son of Kathy Goetzinger of Shelbyville and Doug Goetzinger of Finchville.

    Jason Haggard from Shelby Christian Church officiated the ceremony.

    Bridesmaids were Emma Wider, friend of the bride, and Lauren Wood, sister of the bride, both of Shelbyville.

  • 50th anniversary: Jerry Mac and Vivian Gordon

    Jerry Mac and Vivian Gordon will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this month. 

    They were married Feb. 24, 1962, at Salem Baptist Church in Southville, by the Rev. Wendall Roman. They have lived on Pea Ridge Road all of their married life. They have two children, Angela Gordon Forsythe of Paris and Jerry Todd (Doris) Gordon of Waddy. Jerry and Vivian also have three grandsons, Garrard Forsythe and Ty and Trentin Gordon.

    A family celebration is planned this month.

  • Engagement: DeBakey-Clark

    Allen and Ana Clark of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their son, Tomas Clark, to Linda DeBakey.

    She is the daughter of Doug DeBakey of Houston and Claire DeBakey of Columbia, Md. She is a 2006 graduate of Wilde Lake High School in Columbia and a 2011 graduate of the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in religion and art.

    Clark is a 2008 graduate of Shelby County High School and a 2012 Bachelor of Arts candidate at the University of the Cumberlands, majoring in religion.

  • Raisor in Miss Kentucky USA pageant

    Shelby County native Marissa Raisor, who attends Northern Kentucky University, competed last week in the Miss Kentucky USA 2012 pageant on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. She finished as fourth runner-up. Amanda Mertz of Louisville was the winner after finishing in the top five the previous two years. Raisor is a former Miss Shelby County Fair.

    Five generations of the Wilson family gathered recently for a photograph. They are (seated) Bessie Wilson, great-great grandmother; (standing from left) Alberta Dietrich, great grandmother; Malin Way, great-great granddaughter; Paul Clifford, grandson; and Brittany Way, great granddaughter.

  • Browning completes Navy training

    Navy Seaman Recruit Kristopher Browning, son of Keith and Lisa Browning of Cropper, completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

    During the 8-week program Browning completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

    Browning is a 2009 graduate of Shelby County High School.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Domanski-DeMastes

    Charlie and Penny DeMastes of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their son, Jason, to Jenna Domanski, the daughter of Ken and Sandi Domanski of Sandusky, Ohio.

    DeMastes is a 2004 graduate of Shelby County High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He is currently employed by Toyota as an internal logistics system specialist.
