  • Engagement: Fleming-Tindle

    Judy Fleming of Shelbyville and Randall Fleming of Mims, Fla., announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Ashley Fleming, to Darrell Ray Tindle Jr. He is the son of Darrell Tindle of Shelbyville and the late Lori Tindle.

    She is employed by the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative in Shelbyville, and he is employed by Dana Corporation in Louisville.

    The wedding will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 18, 2012, on a private farm.

    The couple will reside in Shelbyville.

  • 5 generations: Wilson

    Five generations of the Wilson family gathered recently for a photograph.   • Birth: Higgins daughter

    Amber Green and Edward Higgins Jr. of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, on June 22, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. She has been named Kylee Marie Higgins.

    Grandparents are Robert and Beth Green and Edward and Florenia Higgins, all of Shelbyville. Great-grandparents are Robert and Betty Carter and Robert and Joyce Green, all of Shelbyville, the late Arite May and Lee White and Sarah Higgins and James Higgins.

  • Armed forces

    Army Reserve Pvt. Caleb G. Nevarez has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. The training encompassed 9 weeks.

    Nevarez is a 2010 graduate of Shelby County High School.

  • Wedding: Floyd-Wilson

    Sarah Elizabeth Floyd of Bagdad and Thomas Dwain Wilson of Camp Lejeune, N.C., were married July 3, 2012.

    Parents of the bride are Rickie and Kathy Floyd of Bagdad. The groom is the son of Kelly and Neva Wilson of La Grange.

    Buddy Berry officiated the ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father.

    Maid of honor was Holly Floyd of Finchville, sister of the bride.

    Bridesmaid was Amanda Wilson, sister of the groom.

    Best man was Nathan Jackson, of Camp Lejeune, N.C., friend of the groom.

    Billy and Heather Richardson of Bagdad announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathy Jo Richardson of Bagdad, to Jesse William Bardis of Pleasureville. He is the son of Phil and Pam Bardis of Pleasureville.

    The wedding will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 25, 2012, atCropper Baptist Church.

  • 60th anniversary: Gayle L. and Lois Milton Marston

    Gayle L. and Lois Milton Marston celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 18, 2012, during an event hosted by their four children, Barry L. Marston of Shelbyville, Pamela Marston Aldridge of Shelbyville, Michael K. Marston of Bagdad and Robert S. Marston of Borden, Ind. along with their respective spouses, at Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville

    The couple was married in 1952 at Graefenburg Baptist Church by the Rev. Bob Pender.

    The Marstons reside in Shelby County and have seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

  • 90th birthday

    James C. Hardy Jr. will celebrate his 90th birthday on Sunday with a family gathering at his daughter’s home. He is both a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, where he served with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater. He is also a long-standing Mason and was very active in the Shawnee Lodge in Louisville until recently. Hardy currently resides at Crestview Nursing Home.
