    Crystal and Daniel Dempsey of Shelbyville announce the birth of their second child, a son, on May 14, 2012, at Tri County Baptist Hospital. He has been named Daryn Jagger Dempsey.

    Grandparents are Danny Joe Dempsey of Shelbyville and Marty and Ellis Shouse of Frankfort.

  • I'm one: Gaetano Gray Geraci

    Gaetano Gray Geraci celebrated his first birthday Aug. 1, 2012.

    He is the son of Jenny (Gray) and Joseph Geraci of Louisville.

    Grandparents are Pam Gray and Bobby Gray, both of Shelbyville,  and Alfia Geraci of Harrodsburg and the late Gaetano  Geraci.

    Robert and Kim Arrington of Shelbyville and James Hedges of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, announce the engagementof their daughter, Ashley Hedges of Chicago, to Jon Flood of Chicago. He is the son of Jan Flood of Lake Zurich, Ill.

    She is a graduate of DePauw University and is a business development manager at Google. He is a graduate of Western Illinois University and a senior sales consultant at ITXchange in Chicago.

    The wedding will take place at Eminence Christian Church on Oct. 6, 2012.

  • Engagement: Ferrell-Finke

    Kenneth and Martha Ferrell of Waddy announce the engagement of their daughter, Kerri Ferrel,l to Matt Finke. He is the son of Mike and Sue Finke of Edgewood.

    She is a 2000 graduate of Shelby County High School, a 2004 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and is employed by Cincinnati Children's Hospital as a donor relations officer in special events.

    Andrew Baker and Ember Riddle announce the birth of their first child, a son, Feb. 7, 2012 at Norton’s Suburban Hospital Louisville. He has been named Jezzah William Baker. He was born at 6:45 p.m., weighing seven pounds and eight ounces and 21 inches tall.

    Grandparents are Claudia Riddle of Simpsonville, Bill and Cathy Baker of Louisville, and the late Jim Riddle.

    Great-grandparents are Nancy Baker and the late Clayton Baker.

  • Birth: Monroe daughter

    Aaron and Diana Monroe of Waddy announce the birth of their second child, a daughter, on May 25, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East. She has been named Kendall Michelle Monroe.

    Born at 4:23 p.m. she weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and was 21 ½inches long. She has a 2-year-old sister, Aubrey Monroe. Grandparents are Lewis and Darlene Daniels of Graefenburg; Nathan and Beth Monroe of Waddy.  Great-grandparents are Harold & Glenna Monroe of Shelbyville, Clyde Daniels of Frankfort, Grace Wrenn of Lancaster, Christine Burgin of Harrisonville, Allan Murphy of Waddy.

  • Vows renewed: Burgin-Crombie

    Surrounded by friends and family, Tamryn Royce Burgin, 51, and Barry Lee Crombie, 52, renewed their vows July 15 at Simpsonville Baptist Church.

    She is the daughter of Wilson Burgin of Alexandria and the late Betty Horton Burgin. She graduated from Shelby County High School in 1979 and Cincinnati Technical College in 1991 with a degree in managerial accounting.

    He is the son of Adriel “Sonny” and Emma Lou Crombie of Simpsonville and graduated from Shelby County High School in 1978.

  • Wedding: Ellis wedding

    Randi Marsh and Derek Ellis were married July 28 at their home in Frankfort.

    She is the daughter of Frank Morris of Frankfort. He is the son of Marty McClain of Frankfort and Kevin Ellis of Lexington.

  • 50th anniversary: Sam and Nancy Kovach

    Sam and Nancy Kovach will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 3, 2012.

    They were married on that date in 1962 at the First Presbyterian Church in Shawneetown, Ill. Both attended the University of Kentucky and graduated from Morehead State University.

    They have one son, Sam, who is married to Sherri, and two grandchildren, Simon and Shelbi, all of Shelbyville.
