• Mattingly wedding

    Kellie Hornback and Sean Mattingly of Louisville were married July 7, 2012, at the Mattingly Farm in West Point.

    Parents of the bride are Steve and Kathi Hornback of Shelbyville. The groom is the son of Lee and Pat Mattingly of West Point.

    Wedding music was provided by Chad Graham and Karsten Nelson, and Rev. Peter Mosher officiated the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Steve Hornback.

    Sarah Walsh, friend of the bride, was matron of honor.

    Jayden Kent Smith celebrated his first birthday Sept. 27, 2012.

    He is the son of Amber and Jerome Smith of Simpsonville.

    Grandparents are Julie Brown of Simpsonville, Tim Brown of Louisville, Helen Clark and Beverly Clark, of Shelbyville and Janie and Bill Akins of Manson N.C. Great-grandparents are Shirley and Larry Vessels of Simpsonville and Janice and Glenn Brown of Louisville.

    Reece Harrod celebrated his first birthday on July 26, 2012.

    He is the son of Dawn and Mike Harrod, both of Shelbyville.

  • Engagement: Sargent-Marston

    Sherri and Mike Marston announce the engagement of their son, Matthew Kyle Marston, to Taylor Rene’ Sargent. She is the daughter of Dr. Tim and Jenny Sargent of Maysville.

    The wedding will take place at 4 p.m. on Sept. 8, 2012.

    The couple will have a double-ring garden ceremony overlooking the Ohio River, with the reception at the Maysville Country Club.

    Marlene Hughes of Drennon and Danny May of Eminence will be married with a private, double-ring ceremony on Sept. 10, 2012.

    She is the daughter of Vicky LeMaster of Drennon and the late Jack McDowell.

    He is the son of Thelma May of Eminence and the late J.T. May.

    A reception will be held at a later date.

  • Birth: Atchison daughter

    Kyle and Amanda Atchison of Eminence announce the birth of their second child, a daughter, on Aug. 6, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. She has been named Emily Grace Atchison.

    She weighed 6 pounds and 9 ounces and was 20 inches long. She has an older sister, Madalyn Marie Atchison.

    Grandparents are Sandy Jones and Roy Lockridge of Bagdad, Bobby Rankin of Defoe, Sheila Atchison of New Castle and Raymond Atchison of Eminence.

    Lee S. Miller and Deborah S. Fox of Shelbyvilleannounce the engagement of their daughter, Gretchen Ann Pierson of Louisville, to Brandon Ray Hilbert of Louisville. He is the son of Monica and Larry K. Hilbert of Louisville and Levina and Darryl G. Walker of Shelbyville.

    The wedding will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 1, 2012 at Red Orchard Park in Shelbyville, with a reception to follow.

    Pierson and Hilbert are both employed at Bone-Dry Waterproofing Inc.

  • 51st anniversary: Pearl and Tommy McCann

    Pearl and Tommy McCann of Shelbyville celebrated 51 years of marriage on Aug. 20, 2012.

    They are parents of Barbara Morgan, Jane Harrod, Kim Vanetta and Thomas McCann, all of Shelbyville. They have 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    More than 100 Shelby County Cub Scouts attended the Daniel Boone district annual day camp at Lake Shelby in June. One of the activities was for all the scouts to celebrate themselves.
