    The Waddy High School Class of 1952 reunion was held Aug. 11 at Claudia Sanders Dinner House.     Chris and Cheryl Smith of Taylorsville announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Marie Smith of Taylorsville, to Joshua Andrew Popp of Shelbyville. He is the son of Don and Debbye Burk of Shelbyville.

    She is a 2002 graduate of Spencer County High School.

    He is 2001 graduate of Shelby County High School.

    The wedding will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2012, at the Jackson family farm.

  • Engagement: Glass-Akers

    Larry and Janet Glass of Simpsonville announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Leigh, to John “Sam” Akers.

    He is the son of Judith Akers of Shepherdsville and the late Earl Akers, and he is the father of Seth and Evan Akers.

    She is employed with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, fisheries division.

    He is employed with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, engineering division.

    A wedding is planned for next year.

  • Birth: Drawbaugh son

    Sophie and Olivia Drawbaugh announce the birth of their brother, Dathan Robert Drawbaugh, born Aug. 17, 2012, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. He weighed 7 pounds and was 18 1/2 inches long.

    Parents are Ricky and Jessi Drawbaugh, Pleasureville.

    Grandparents are Clyde and Brenda Sholar of Pleasureville and Ricky and Nancy Drawbaugh of Shelbyville.

    Great-Grandparents are Thomas and Lillian Easley and Freeman and Dorothy Lyons, all of Pleasureville and Homer and Janice Clem of Athens, Alabama.

  • 60th anniversary: Pat and Jim Edwards

    Jim and Pat Edwards of Eminence celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 21 at Crescent Place Assisted Living. They have three children, Bruce Edwards of Shelbyville, Beverly Smith of Lexington and Jeff Edwards of Louisville.

  • 7th anniversary: Torrey and Bethany Smith

    Torrey and Bethany Smith of Shelbyville have been married for 7 years. The couple were married Sept. 24, 2005, in Chillicothe, Ohio.

    He is the son of Judy and W.A. Smith of Shelbyville.

    She is the daughter of Jerry and Lyn Komlos of Chillicothe, Ohio.

    They have two children, Presley Lane and Ella Kate.

  • A loving banquet

    A Loving Choice Pregnancy Resource Center had its annual fundraiser banquet on Thursday night at Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville. About 250 – some of them greeted here by Executive Director Jan Antos –attended and heard plans about the new center that will open later this month in downtown Shelbyville. They also heard from Gretchen Davis, who provided a “client testimony” on video, and the keynote address from Angela Minter, president and co-founder of Sisters for Life.

    Shelby County High School named its football homecoming court this week. Seniors (seated, from left) Meranda Caswell, Ariana Jones, Heather Kirby, Samantha Orange, Abby Siegel and Brianna Taniges will vie for the crown, which will be awarded during halftime of the Rockets game against Henry County on Friday. The rest of the court is (standing, from left): freshmen Abby Wills and Sydney Wright, sophomores Sarah Durham and Cali Mills and juniors Kristyna Garrett and Kate Schaeffer.

    John and Elly Jaggers of Cropper announce the engagement of their daughter, Amber Dawne Jaggers. to Brennen White Hancock. He is the son of Carrol Hancock of La Grange and Cindy and Bruce Dunaway of Bethlehem.

    She is a 2005 Shelby County High School graduate and a 2007 graduate from The Hair Design School. She owns Inspirations Salon in Shelbyville.

    He is a 2007 graduate of Henry County High School and attended college and is employed at Kentucky Utilities.
