  • Engagement: Travis-Schedler

    Roger and Alisa Travis of Shelbyville announce the engagement of their daughter, Andrea Travis of Lexington, to Matt Schedler of Jeffersonville, Ind. He is the son of Jim and Debbie Schedler of New Brunswick, Canada.

    The wedding will take place at 5:30 p.m. July 23, 2011, at Anchor Baptist Church in Lexington. A reception will be held following the ceremony at Keeneland. Invitations will be mailed.

  • I'm one: Mya Cheyenne Broughton

    Mya Cheyenne Broughton celebrated her first birthday Feb. 3, 2011.

    She is the daughter of Clifton Broughton and Jessica Begley of Shelbyville.

    Grandparents are Danny and Sarah Broughton of Cropper, Cindy Bishop of Ireland the late Larry Begley. Great-grandparents are Charles and Helen Watson of Shelbyville, Elizabeth Ratchford of Eminence, Donald Broughton of Shelbyville and Evelyn Bishop of Princeton.

    Asher Reed Barnes celebrated his first birthday on Jan. 6, 2011.

    He is the son of Jerrett and Leah Barnes of Shelbyville.

    Grandparents are Darla and Eric Novosel of Shelbyville, Jeff Hulker and Cindy Fister of Lawrenceburg and Cheryl Smith of Shelbyville. Great-grandparents are Wanda Reed of Waddy, Louise and Bob Brown of Louisville, Margie Barnes of Shelbyville and the late KG Reed.

  • Wear Red Day

    Shelby County Judge-Executive Rob Rothenburger presents Mary Jo Newton of the Shelby County Professional Women's Club with a proclamation he signed declaring Friday as "Wear Red Day for Women." Women across Shelby County are encouraged to wear red to raise awareness of heart disease. Citizens Union Bank, Commonwealth Bank, Collins and Shelby County high schools and Jefferson Community & Technical College, Shelby Campus, also are part of the event. Posters are in the downtown shops, and a free luncheon is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shelby Fit For Life.

  • 60th anniversary: Watson

    Robert E. and Eva Watson will celebrate 60 years of marriage on Jan. 19, 2011. The couple was married at the Graefenburg Christian Church by the groom father's, George W. Watson, who was the minister of the church for 14 years.

    The couple has four children, Kenneth of Greenville, Ind., Janice of Flatwood, Douglas of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kimberly of Cincinnati.

  • Birth: Jeffers

    Amy (Gill) and Jason Jeffers of Shelbyville announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Nov. 11, 2010 at Baptist Hospital East. She has been named Noel Clare Jeffers.

    Grandparents are L. Leon & Judy Gill of Shelbyville and Clarence & Lois Jeffers of Louisville.

  • Birth: Mudd son

    Kara and Justin Mudd of Louisville announce the birth of their first child, a son, on Dec. 17, 2010, at Norton Suburban Women's Pavilion. He has been named Grayson Lennox Mudd.

    Grandparents are Roger and Alisa Travis of Shelbyville and Donna and Pat Mudd of Springfield.

    Great grandparents are Pauline Travis and Robert Schneider of Shelby County, Frances Raypole of Louisville and Victor and Pauline Mudd of Lebanon.
