Weekend roundup

Here's a look back at the weekend that was (and continues today with the holiday):

1. Collins sophomore running back DeAndre Farris had a breakout game, with 122 yards, as the Titans controlled the line of scrimmage against Class 6A Oldham County in their 20-7 victory Friday night.

2. On the flip side it was a tough night for the Shelby football team. Host Anderson County scored 43 straight points in the first half on its way to a 58-20 victory over the Rockets. Junior quarterback Zach Shipley rushed for two TDs and passed for another to lead Shelby.

3. The Shelby County girls' golf team, led by sophomore Jordan Webb, won the Gene Hilen Invitational on Saturday at Juniper Hills Golf Course. Webb continued her torrid play with a 2-under-par 72 to earn medalist honors.

4. The Collins boys' cross country team finished second Saturday in the Shelby County Invitational. Junior Devon Fielding finished fifth and senior teammate Jared Solinger took sixth for the Titans, who were two points behind Lexington Catholic in the team scoring. Meanwhile, the Shelby County girls' team - led by seventh-place finisher Taylor Webb - finished eighth.
