UofL-UK game

I didn't get a chance to write about the UofL-UK football game this week, so I'll blog about it.

Here are my five thoughts on the game:

1. The winning team will be the one that has the better run game. It's held true in every matchup in the modern era the team that has run the ball better has won the game. With that in mind you have to give the edge to UK, which may not have the more experienced running backs, but does have the more experienced offensive line.

2. Speaking of the offensive line, UofL's O-line must protect quarterback Will Stein if the Cardinals are going to have any shot at all to win the game. UofL's O-line gave up five sacks in its loss to Florida International and you can bet that the Wildcats' pass rush is going to be better than that of the Golden Panthers.

3. UK's passing game will be another big key considering it hasn't been very good so far (the Wildcats rank 115th in the FBS) and UofL's cornerbacks aren't very good either (see the big game by T.Y. Hilton in the loss to FIU).

4. Can UofL's pass rush get to Morgan Newton? You know the Cards are going to come after UK's quarterback, who has played fair in the Wildcats' first two games, so we'll see if they can force him into making some mistakes (because in these games turnovers are also always a key).

5. Prediction: Kentucky 24, Louisville 13.
