Planning to be airlifted to Florida

A Florida man who was in a serious auto accident on I-64 Dec. 22 is now on the way back for treatment, said Detective Jason Rice.

Terry Ray, of Orlando, was involved in the accident near 38-mile marker, a location of numerous accidents this year.

Ray drove off the road and into a ravine, and firefighters had to lift him back up to the roadway using a winch. He was airlifted to the University of Louisville. Detective Jason Rice said Ray ran off the road due to a medical condition.

Rice said Monday that Ray, who sustained internal injuries in the crash, is in serious but stable condition.

He added that Ray's family plans to fly him to Nashville, then on to Orlando where he can recover in his hometown.
