Two people were injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in the 2700 block of Eminence Pike.

Both drivers, Wallace Shouse, 46, of Pleasureville and Aryk Arington, 22, of Eminence were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital after being removed from their vehicles by crews using hydraulic rescue tools.

Shouse is listed in critical but stable condition and hospital officials said that Arington is no longer a patient.

Shelby County Accident Reconstructionist Rick Meadows said the accident happened when the two cars traveling toward each other on Eminence Pike collided.

“The northbound vehicle [driven by Shouse] crossed the center line and struck the southbound vehicle pretty much head on,” he said. “It was driver’s side to driver’s side,” he said.

The location of the crash was between Bellview Road and the bridge over Clear Creek just north of the bypass, Meadows said.

He said it was raining at the time of the accident, but that he is not sure that weather was a factor.

“I have not yet determined why he crossed the center line,” he said.

He said that he does not know the condition of either of the two drivers.

“There was a serious injury, but I don’t know any more than that,” he said.

The roadway was closed to traffic until 8:30, when traffic was re-routed around the accident scene.
