Recommends denying zone change for Smithfield Road apartments

The Triple S Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday made a statement to commit to quality building materials and ensuring that new buildings fit into the surrounding environment with the decision recommend against proposed zone change at Smithfield Road and Sanford Lane in Shelbyville.

The request was to change the zoning from Residential R3 to R4 for a proposed 96-unit apartment complex near the fairgrounds on Smithfield Road. The 5.2-acre development also included more than 2 acres of green space, per regulations.
