A hot start to the season for Collins girls’ golf continued on Saturday, as the Titans traveled to Somerset and took third-place as a team at the Pulaski County Invitational.

Senior golfer Rylee Suttor led the way for Collins at the 11-team tournament, finishing second-place individually and shooting a 79 at Eagles Nest Country Club.

Fellow senior Catie Kelly finished the day with the second-best score on the team at an 85, and Lexie Lindley carded a score of 109.

Finally for the Titans, Emily Coots took home a score of 111 to round out the group, and as a team, Collins brought home the third-place trophy.

With four tournaments now completed to begin the season, the Titans have finished in fifth-place at the Green County and Walton-Verona hosted events, and third-place at the Lady Titan Challenge and at Pulaski’s event.

“With four tournaments completed, this year, and our results only getting better and better, we’re in the position to capitalize on our continued success,” Titans coach Matt Cockrell said. “This is the season for Collins Girls golf team to make a move and to shake it up. It’s going to be an exciting year.”

The Titans opened head-to-head competition on Tuesday afternoon against Anderson County at Wild Turkey Trace Golf Course, but results of the match were not available by press time.

Up next for the team will be its fifth tournament of the season at the Barren County Invitational, which begins on Saturday morning at Barren River Lake Golf Course.
