Late defensive push not enough to overcome initial Colonel attack

By Les Abbott

The Collins baseball team began its season Monday in a key 8th Region matchup against Oldham County, and the Colonels used an early lead to hold off Collins, 6-2.

The Colonels wasted no time, picking up an early run on an RBI double in the first inning and adding two more.

The Colonels then added three more in the second, including Austin Reed’s two-run triple. Trevor Amburgey also picked up his second RBI, this one capping the Colonels early scoring with a sac fly to bring in Reed.
