INDEPENDENCE -- The Lady Rockets' season came to a end Friday at the deft hands of 8th Region Player of the Year Sydni Wainscott and the Lady Pioneers. Simon Kenton won 69-49 in the semifinal round of the region tournament on their home court.

Freshman Aaliyah Wells, Shelby's leading rebounder and one of the top scorers, went down in the second quarter with an ankle injury. The loss of Wells, coupled with a poor shooting night against a tenacious Lady Pioneer defense, put a Shelby comeback beyond reach.
