Chelsey Vessels, 25, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police were called when a person noticed two small children alone in car.

According to the report, Shelbyville Police were called to the Marion Village Apartments, near the Midland Trail and Mack Walters Road intersection, where they found a 1-year-old girl asleep under a blanket and an older boy playing on the floor of the car.

After police were able to talk the boy into unlocking the door, officers found the girl sweating and alerted EMS.

Shortly after getting the children from the car, police found Vessels walking around the apartment complex.

Vessels said she came to the area to meet with a man. She was charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and is being held at the Shelby County Detention Center.
