Officials have put Shelby County under a heat advisory warning starting Friday at 2 p.m. to Monday at 7 p.m.

Heat index values are expected to peak in the 100 to 105 degree range, with the hottest time of the day falling between 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The combinations of high heat, with temperatures expected to be in the 90s each day, and humidity can create dangerous outdoor weather conditions.

Residents are warned to avoid prolonged exposure to the heat, and be on the look out for the symptoms of heat stroke.

To reduce the risk of heat stroke, reschedule activities to early morning and late evening and schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
