A Shelby County child who suffered a drowning scare yesterday afternoon at a swimming pool in Juniper Hills Parks in Frankfort is going to be alright, said Shelby County School officials.

"An incident occurred while a student was in our care and the student was taken to the hospital," said Shelby County School Superintendent James Neihof. "The prognosis is a full recovery."

The child was on an outing with a group from Shelby County Schools when the incident happened at about 1 p.m.

Frankfort Police said a lifeguard at the pool got the child out of the water and the child was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center. A dispatcher at Franklin County 911 said the child was then transferred to the University of Kentucky.

The name of the child has not been released.
