A winter, spring full of rain has forced contractors to push back date

By Kelly Neumeyer

After heavy rainfalls left Shelby County wringing wet last week, contractors for the new Marnel C. Moorman K-8 school finally confirmed many educators and parents worst fear, that the school would not be ready by the late August deadline.

So, after speaking with contractors and district personnel, Shelby County Public Schools Superintendent James Neihof made the announcement last week that the district would move to the contingency calendar, which pushes the start of school back to Sept. 3 for the 2019-20 school year.
