Police make drug bust at traffic stop

They find $22,000 cash on driver

Police issued more than a citation during a traffic stop on the interstate in Simpsonville on Wednesday. They confiscated cocaine and more than $22,000 from the driver.  Kentucky State Police Ron Turley said that when trooper Hunter Martin pulled over a car at mile marker 28 for excessive window tinting, he smelled the odor of marijuana. In searching Joey Thompson’s 2001 Volvo, Martin found 80 grams of crack and powder cocaine and also $22,338 in cash. The drugs have a street value of $8,000.
