No. 25 Collins softball team goes down hard in opener

The Collins softball team, ranked No. 25 in the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association preseason poll, fell to sixth-ranked Oldham County in its season-opener Wednesday.

The Colonels clobbered the Titans, 11-0, in five innings in Buckner.

Oldham County pitcher Jessica Leanhart limited Collins to two hits and struck out nine. She also helped her cause by going 3-for-3.

Lindsey Ketcham and Alex Baker had the Titans’ only hits.

Collins plays at North Oldham at noon Saturday and hosts Western Hills at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
