Legislative committee plans to draft fireworks ordinance

-A A +A

Would restrict fireworks use after 11 p.m.

By Glen Jennings

The Shelby County Fiscal Court Legislative Committee will recommend magistrates consider an ordinance that would ban fireworks after 11 p.m.

The recommendation came at the tail end of a meeting attended by a large crowd that was evenly split between residents who supported a harsh crackdown on the use of fireworks and those who would rather use of fireworks go unrestricted. The final represents a compromise between the two camps, restricting the use of fireworks throughout the night, but still allowing their year-round use.
