Kregor plays Assumption girl in first round of State tennis tourney

Collins freshman Paige Kregor, the 8th Region runner-up, will play Assumption sophomore Abbie Mather, one of the 9-16 seeds, in the first round of the girls' 2011 KHSAA State Tennis Tournament that begins Thursday at the University of Kentucky's Boone/Downing Tennis Center.

If Kregor wins her first-round match she would play the winner between Prestonsburg junior Kelsey Hughes and eighth-grader Emily Whitnell from Graves County in the second round.

If Kregor wins that match she would likely meet the tournament's top seed, Lexington Catholic senior Samantha Maddox, in the Round of 16.
