With several recent bus stop tragedies across the nation, officials in Shelby County note driver negligence is a problem here, too.

By Ashley Sutter

Social media has been abuzz this fall in light of recent school bus related tragedies across the nation.

Last month there were six bus stop accidents in Indiana, Mississippi, Florida and Pennsylvania, resulting in the death of five children over the course of just three days.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 1,200 people were killed in school-transportation related crashes between 2007 and 2016.

And it seems the numbers aren’t getting any better.
