The Highlands football team clobbered Collins in the Titans' first state finals appearance.

The Bluebirds topped the Titans 47-0 in the Class AAAA championship game Friday night in front of 8,312 fans at Western Kentucky University's L.T. Smith Stadium in Bowling Green.

Kentucky's winningest high school football program handed Collins its first shutout loss in the three-year history of the program.

Highlands built a 33-0 lead, then cruised to its state-record sixth consecutive state title and its 22nd overall.

The Bluebirds rolled up 476 yards of total offense and limited the Titans to only 173.

"They're a great team," Collins junior quarterback Lawson Page said. "We couldn't get our offense going."

Highlands senior quarterback Donovan McCoy passed for 153 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 105 more yards and two more scores. Meanwhile senior running back Colin Seidl, son of former Shelby County High School standout Steve Seidl, rushed for 115 yards - all in the first half - and one touchdown.

Collins junior Dre Farris had 125 yards of total offense (60 rushing, 65 receiving) to lead the Titans. Page, meanwhile, was 12 for 26 for 106 yards and was sacked seven times.
