HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Crucial performance leads to crucial win

Carias, Rhodes provide spark for the Rockets

By Les Abbott

Prior to Friday’s Hometown Showdown matchup Shelby County (4-4, 1-2 in district) needed a win versus Collins to remain eligible for the postseason. A loss would have pushed the Rockets to 1-3 in district tying them with Spencer County, but because Spencer County beat Shelby in district play the Bears would have owned the tiebreaker pushing them in to the playoffs instead of the Rockets.

However, Spencer County’s playoff hopes would come to a close, as Shelby County defeated Collins 28-20.
