Five for Friday night

Here are five items for late Friday night:

1. Shelby County's home football game against Bullitt East next Friday is big for several reasons, but mostly because if the Rockets lose they'll finish last in the district and have to travel to John Hardin for the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

2. We still don't have the schedule for the 8th Region volleyball tournament, but we do know that North Bullitt will be hosting next week's event. I can't remember if I've ever been to that school's gym before, but I've heard it's dark (that'll be fun to shoot pictures in for me) and the ceiling is low.

3. Collins beats Waggener by 55 points (58-3) tonight in football and Waggener beat Atherton by 40 (53-13) earlier this season, so does that mean the Titans will beat Atherton by 95 points next Friday night?

4. The Owen County football team, which beat Shelby County in a preseason scrimmage that was pretty close, is now 8-0 in Class 2A after tonight's 33-7 victory over Carroll County.

5. Don't forget tomorrow's (or today's depending on when you're reading this) 16th District boys' soccer final between Collins and host Oldham County at noon. I'll post updates on my Twitter account (@jcsentinelnews).
