Five for Friday

Here are my five for Friday:

1. The Collins boys' soccer team was impressive in its victory over Anderson County last night in the 30th District Tournament final. The Titans have all the tools necessary for a run deep into the postseason. They are great on defense, have solid goalkeeping, are strong in the midfield, have a plethora of goal-scorers and are outstanding on set pieces. Their first order of business will be getting through the difficult 8th Region Tournament. Collins will host a yet-to-be-determined opponent Monday night in a first-round game. The final two rounds will be played at South Oldham.

2. Are you ready for some football? If so, you're in luck because tonight's Bullitt Central at Shelby County game looks to be the biggest game of October in Shelbyville.

3. Sorry to all you Cincinnati Reds out there, I hated to see them go down like they did yesterday. Take solace in the fact, though, that Dusty Baker's days in the Queen City are probably numbered. I was listening to the game on the radio (a rarity for me) and even I knew that Mat Latos needed to come out before he pitched to Buster Posey, so there's no excuse for the Reds manager to have left him in the game.

4. I'm still not sure how I feel about Major League Baseball's new postseason, but couldn't ask for much more so far, especially with all four Division Series going the full five games.

5. So, is there any way UK doesn't win the national championship in men's basketball in 2014?
