Five for Friday

Here are five items for Friday:

1. Shelbyville's Brandon Brown is tied for 41st-place with a 3-under par after the first round of this weekend's NGA/Hooters Pro Golf Tour's event. He's six shots off the pace and one shot ahead of the projected cut.

2. The 10th-ranked Oldham County boys' soccer team completed its Shelby County-sweep Thursday night, taking down Collins 2-1 two nights after the Colonels beat Shelby County by the same score in a match that went to penalty kicks.

3. The Shelby County volleyball team lost its first three-set match of the season Thursday night, as host Spencer County beat the Rockets 21-25, 25-22, 25-19.

4. This just in...Randall Cobb is good. Wow! The former University of Kentucky star had quite the debut with the Green Bay Packers last night as they beat the New Orleans Saints in the first game of the NFL season. What will he do for an encore? It's going to be pretty tough to top two TDs, one on a reception and another on a 108-yard kickoff return.

5. You won't see out at any 5K cross country meets tomorrow. Instead, I'll be taking part in my own 5K called the Rugged Maniac in Paoli, Ind. Hopefully I'll survive, and make it back for the Eastern-Collins football game Saturday evening.
