A Shelby County man who is a convicted sex offender has been arrested and charged with several offenses, one of them a felony, relating to distributing obscene matter to a minor using social media.

Anthony T. Bradford, 41, was arrested Monday and charged with being aregistered sex offender who has been prohibited from using social-networking Web site, Internet messaging or chat room programs used by minors;, distributing obscene matter to a minor, both misdemeanors, and prohibited use of electronic communication to procure a minor, a Class D felony.

He was also charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, both Class D felonies.

Kentucky State Police spokesperson Ron Turley said the offenses came to light when someone in Shelby County called in a complaint to the Frankfort Post in Shelby County that someone was using Facebook to try to meet a juvenile.

Turley said he didn’t want to give the girl’s age, but said she is under 15 years old.  Turley said that KSP detective Kevin Calhoon, a detective in KSP’s Crimes Against Children unit, began an investigation Nov. 29 that culminated with Bradford’s arrest Monday.

“The investigation led to a suspect on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registration [list],” Turley said.

On Monday at 3:30 pm, detectives executed a search warrant at a Bradford’s residence, located at 304 Jail Hill Road, seizing evidence, handguns and other firearms.

On KSP’s sex offender registration site, Bradford is listed as being convicted of raping a 13-year-old victim. He is required to be on the registry for the rest of his life.

Turley said anyone who has any additional information about the case is encouraged to contact KSP’s Crimes Against Children unit at 502-227-2221.
