An incident involving a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer at Midwest Metals Monday has resulted in the death of one employee.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Jason Stroehle of Shelbyville.

Officials say the call came in around 1:30 Monday afternoon regarding an incident at the facility at 40 Windhurst Way.

"The incident took place in the back lot at Midwest Metals," Major Eric Hettinger with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said. "It appears the vehicle was maneuvering to exit the lot and in doing so struck the employee."

Shelby County Coroner Jeff Ivers said the Shelby County Sheriff's Office is reconstructing the scene and an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday morning.

"We are still waiting on the preliminary results to come in," Ivers said.

Hettinger said it's still an open investigation.

"We don't anticipate charges being brought, but the investigation has not been completed at this time," he said.
