The West Shelby County Middle School seventh-grade team finished in the top 16 of the 58-team Kentucky State Tournament for Middle Schools the weekend of Feb. 5.

“Overall we played really well,” West Coach John Carroll said.

West began the tournament with a double-digit victory against Bate Middle School, with Brent Kidwell leading the way.

Saturday, West opened with a victory against Royal Springs Middle School. Though the victory came easy, it was expensive. West lost Jackson Ellis to a possible ACL injury.
