Titans beat Gallatin, 56-47, will play Oldham in 8th Region final

Another perfect shooting night from Brian Stone, and another dominant defensive effort, carried Collins into the 8th Region boys' basketball final.

Stone scored 16 points (on 8 for 8 shooting), grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked six shots to lead the Titans to a 56-47 victory over Gallatin County in the 8th Region semifinals Monday night at Henry County.

Collins (24-10) will take on defending region champ Oldham County (28-5) at 7 p.m. Tuesday night for the right to go to Rupp Arena and the boys' Sweet Sixteen. The Colonels beat Owen County 47-44 in Monday night's second semifinal. Oldham County beat the Titans 58-44 on their home court on Jan. 20.

Junior swingman Dez Marshall added 14 points and seven rebounds for Collins, which won its seventh straight game thanks to 70 percent shooting (21 for 30) and a 45-16 rebound advantage.

Senior forward Michael Brooks added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Titans, who held Gallatin to 25 percent shooting (15 for 60) - including 20.8 (5 for 24) in the first half.

Junior forward Terez Smith chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds off the bench for Collins, which overcame 13 for 23 (56.5 percent) free throw shooting by going 8-for-8 in the final 53.5 seconds.
