The Collins boys' soccer team struck early, and often, Thursday night in a 6-0 victory over host Shelby County.

The Titans tallied three goals in the first 13 minutes on their way to their second victory over the Rockets this season at the Shelby County Athletic Complex. Collins beat Shelby 3-0 in the season-opener for both Aug. 16. In that match the Titans led 2-0 at halftime.

It was a different story this time around.

"We finished a team off tonight, we haven't finished anybody off all year," Collins Coach Scott Cress said. "We just kept the pedal on the throttle and kept going, which is how I want to go into the district [tournament]."

The Titans may have finished, but their start didn't hurt either.

Five minutes into the match sophomore Jack Oakey scored off a feed from Evan Clare.

A minute later junior Walker Andriot scored on a direct kick from 18 yards out to make it 2-0.

Seven minutes after that sophomore Tyler Neison scored off an assist from junior Zach Miller.

Then, seven minutes before halftime, Oakey fed sophomore Ryan Metcalf for another goal to put Collins up 4-0.

At that point, "we got frustated with each other," Shelby County Coach Tony Wood said. "But after they settled down and quit arguing with each other and started settling in as a team."

Senior Baker Medley added a goal, off a feed from Austin Huff, with 20:48 to play. Senior Dylan Gravett tallied the Titans final goal with 1:56 left.

Next up for both teams in the 16th District Tournament at Shelby County.

The fifth-seeded Rockets (6-11-1) play No. 4 seed North Oldham at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the first round of the tourney. The second-seeded Titans (10-5-2) play in Tuesday's first semifinal, at 5:30 p.m., against the winner between third-seeded South Oldham and sixth-seeded Spencer County.
