Centenary United Methodist

The message for Day of Pentecost service this Sunday will be “The Power to Do What Needs Done.” The Ladies Lunch Bunch will travel to the Sage Garden Cafe in Frankfort for lunch and browse the gardens, leaving the church at 11:30 a.m. The Quilters meets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Bring a sack lunch and a project to work on. Starting this Wednesday, there will be no catered meal or evening programming until August. Children's and youth programming will be announced later. The annual Methodist Conference is asking for assistance to have 1,500 health kits for RELIEF(UMCOR). Our district is asked to supply single adult toothbrushes in original wrapper. Children's Ministry Meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. A summer program for preschool through fifth grades will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every other Wednesday, beginning May 29.

The cost per plate will be $5, and donations will also be accepted to help raise money for the youth to go to summer camp. The youth will have a car wash on Saturday at Chism's Hardware in Shelbyville to raise money for youth camp. There will be a fellowship meal on Sunday after church.  The Lambs of Christ will then go to Masonic Home to visit. There will be a deacons’ meeting and business meeting on Sunday. Vacation Bible School for “Kingdom Rock” will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 2-6. A team of workers will be sent to West Liberty on June 16-21 to help complete seven homes that have been built to replace those destroyed by the tornado of 2012. People interested in helping with hanging siding, building porches and general construction work are asked to bring their tools and hands ready for labor. Housing and meals will be furnished. The Shelby County Community Children's Choir will present its concert "Rock-n-Roll Radio Show" at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tracy Bond Bird will be the guest disc jockey. Admission is free, and donations will be accepted for the choir. Representatives from Initials Inc., Pampered Chef, Yarn Wagon, Paparazzi, Scentsy, Tootlebugz Bowz and Avon will be on site and will donate a percentage of all sales that night to the choir. The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need.
