Bagdad Baptist

The church is entering a season of NFL – No Friend Left behind. There will be a pep rally on Wednesday in preparation for NFL Day on Feb. 3. Centenary United Methodist

Youth Winter Blitz will take place this weekend at the church at 4:30 p.m. Friday for pizza and leaving promptly at 5 p.m.  The group will return around 2 p.m. on Sunday. Continuing with the “Seeking Greatness” sermon series, Sunday the pastor will speak on "A Great Commitment: The Price of Admission" at both worship services. The 60+ senior adult group will meet following the 11 a.m. worship service in the fellowship hall for lunch and a movie. Sunday at 2 p.m.-3 p.m., there will be a worship training session for anyone who participates or is interested in participating in a leadership role in the worship services. This includes ushers, communion servers, audio/visual assistants, leading prayer and children's moments. This session will be offered again on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Youth Super Bowl Party will be held at the youth director's home on Feb. 3, 6 p.m. until the game ends. Girls are asked to bring chips/snacks and the boys a 2-liter drink. Supper will be served at 6:15.

The church is hosting Boy Scout Troop 137’s gospel sing and chili supper at 5-8 p.m. Feb. 2. The cost is $5 for all-you-can-eat chili and entertainment by local gospel singers. Profits from the event will fund the troop’s high adventure trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and summer camp at Camp Crooked Creek. Tickets are available at the door. The missions and Guatemala teams would like to have your treasures as you begin your spring cleaning. A yard sale will be held in April, so as you begin going through your closets and garages, remember to bring your items to church, and they will be stored until the sale. The collection begins Feb. 3 and will continue until April 19. The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new, and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC is also collecting used hearing aid batteries, coupons – current or expired, cancelled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. The prayer chapel is open during normal office hours at 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday for anyone seeking a quiet place to pray. First Presbyterian

On Sunday church members will be making fleece blankets for the Linus Project. Some fleece has been donated and will be available for folks who don't get a chance to buy their own. No sewing skills needed – if you can use scissors or tie a knot or eat soup, you can help. Bring 1.5- 2 yards of two coordinating fleece fabrics and some sharp fabric scissors (craft scissors probably won't be sharp enough to cut easily). Soup and bread will be served for lunch. Girl Scouts meet Monday at 6 p.m.; Cub Scouts, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.; and Boy Scouts at 7. Adult Choir rehearsal is at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.  The Mitten Tree is ready to accept more donations of hats, mittens, scarves, socks, etc. These will be distributed to the schools and those in need all winter.
