Centenary United Methodist

Sunday morning worship services, the pastor will speak from the “Breaking Free” series on "From Financial Chaos,” taken from Genesis 41:17-36. Impact Shelby will meet at Graefenburg UMC at 6 p.m. Monday. The Tuesday evening prayer time held in Hunter's Chapel will be at 7-8.  All Wednesday evening programming will begin with the fellowship dinner at 5:45, followed by Bible study, youth and children gathering at 6:30 and choir practice at 7:45 -9. A fundraising campaign is ongoing for the a van to be used for transporting disabled individuals in the church. Contributions can be made to the church van campaign. Youth 2014 Winter Blitz will be Friday and Saturday in Louisville.  They are scheduled to stay at St. Paul UMC both nights.

Asante Children’s Choir from East Africa will present special music at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Rev. The church is a collection site for Edge Outreach Shoes for Water. Donations of new and used shoes to Edge Outreach create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. FCC also is collecting used hearing-aid batteries, box tops, Campbell’s labels, eyeglasses, plastic bags (Kroger, Walmart, etc.), coupons (current or expired), canceled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans and current magazines for mission projects. Kroger gift cards may be purchased from the church. Each time a card is purchased or reloaded, the church earns 4 percent. Contact the church office for more information. Cub Scouts meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday; Boy Scouts at 7 p.m. Adult choir rehearsal is at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. The Outreach Committee is sponsoring a Souper Bowl fan competition to benefit the Backpack program. Bring in pop-top cans of soup and place them in your Super Bowl team's box. The team receiving the most items will be declared the winner. Competition will run through Super Bowl Sunday. We still need used or new tennis balls for Heritage Elementary. Place them in the white basket in the Assembly Room. The church continues to collect expired/unwanted coupons for the military, unwanted shoes in any condition or type, used hearing aide batteries and round plastic tops from mayo jars, soda bottles, shampoo, etc. for a Painted Stone Elementary art project.
