Centenary United Methodist

Sunday's message for both services will be from the reading of Luke 24th chapter " A Post- Easter See and Say." A Native American Special offering will be received on Sunday. The Church Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Girls, fourth and fifth grades, are working on quilts as part of their mission project. Kids Korner will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The CYF Youth Overnight Campout will start at noon on Saturday returning to the church at noon on Sunday. They will stay at the Smith's Home. Quilters will meet on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Also, Wednesday evening programming will resume. Centenary has recently hired a new Director of Children's Ministry. Sarah Krauss, a native of Ohio, is available at the church (633-4510) to answer question regarding that ministry. The church’s graduating seniors, who are interested in applying for the church scholarship, need to submit their application and essay by May 12.

First Baptist Shelbyville

Senior Pastor R. Maurice Hollingsworth continues his series on 1st Thessalonians:The Building Blocks of the Faithful:" Share the Gospel Like a Mother & Father" on Sunday. Clarinetist Stephanie Stephens, violinist Mary McGillen, actor Peter Palmer, with assisting guitarist Summer Shannon and pianist Geoffrey McGillen will present a program of classical and movie music at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary. Stephens, music educator at Clear Creek Elementary School, will present Mozart's "Clarinet Concerto" and a portion of Brahms' f minor "Clarinet Sonata." Besides her Shelby County educational tenure, she has directed SCCT children's music theatre productions and participated in the FBC orchestra for many years. Her husband, Todd Stephens, is at Collins as the Ag teacher. Mary McGillen directs the Collins High School and West Middle School orchestra programs. In 1995, she toured with the rock group Led Zeppelin and has performed with major guest artists such as Julie Andrews, Blood Sweat & Tears, and Three Dog Night. Summer Shannon is a graduating senior at Shelby County High School, serves regularly with the FBC Student Praise Band and will matriculate to Murray State this fall. Geoffrey McGillen is the Minister to Senior Adults at FBC. Actor Peter Palmer has established himself into the Shelbyville community with his Centenary Methodist service presentations and his dog walking at the Red Orchard center. A long and distinguished career on Broadway, in movies and television, he will recite on Sunday Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address." This performance will observe the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's assassination and subsequent funeral train across the Midwest in April-May of 1865. A special birthday presentation will be made at the end of program. The public is invited to this free celebration. NEXT LEVEL has resumed on Wednesday and continues through May 6. $6 covers the adult meal and $1 for the children's portion. Adult, student, and children ministries follow at 6 p.m. Young at Heart meets at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the welcome center near the church office entrance for bus departure to the Ponderosa in La Grange. First Christian

A prayer group will meet each Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. in the chaplain's office. Everyone is welcome to participate. The church is a collection site for Water Step. Donations of new and used shoes create clean drinking water for people in need. Shoes of all types are acceptable – from flip-flops to high heels, from boots to football cleats. The church used hearing-aid batteries, box tops, Campbell’s labels, eyeglasses, plastic bags from Kroger, Walmart, etc., coupons either current or expired, canceled postage stamps, pop tops from aluminum cans for mission projects. 1st Harmony Worship Center

Give Your Feet A Hug With A New Rug is a campaign to purchase new carpet for the sanctuary and choir loft. A $25 donation will pay for 1 yard of carpet, which is approximately "your pew seat."
