Shelby County will be graced with the royal treatment early next month as a new king rolls into town with a plethora of goodies in tow.

On June 4, Burger King will host its grand opening for the new Shelby County site at Mortown Way along Taylorsville Road, near the new Bojangles’ and Tractor Supply Co.

“We will open up at six o’clock in the morning,” said district manager Starla Roden.

Froggy Radio will broadcast live on-site and giving away promotional goodies all day, she added.

“We are going to have lots of giveaways,” she said, explaining 100 free whoppers will be up for grabs, along with another 100 free whopper meals and ice cream cones, among other treats

Roden said patrons would also be entered into a drawing for a 10-speed Dr. Pepper bicycle.

The drawing for the bike, she said, will take place the same day as the ribbon cutting, which is set for June 12.

This is the second time a Burger King will open in Shelby County.  The restaurant previously had a location at 1980 Midland Trail, which was replaced by Zaxby’s and now houses Cox’s Smokers Outlet.

The new restaurant, operated by Cambridge Franchise Group, is a 2,704 square-foot facility with 38 parking spaces and a drive-thru on 1.35 acres.

The location will open at 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sundays.  The dining area closes each night at 10 but the drive-thru will remain open until midnight.

Roden said to accommodate the number of anticipated customers, they want to fill 60 positions by opening day.

“We still need to fill about 40 spots,” she said, noting they are looking to hire crew members, crew leaders, cooks, cashiers, dining room attendants among other positions.  There are spots for both full- and part-time job seekers.  Interviews are available on the spot at the local restaurant and at the Best Western.  More information can be found at https://www.cfh-llc.com/careers.

Roden said they are looking forward to opening at the new location.

“We’re excited,” she said, noting this will be her fourth opening with the company.  “I’ve got five more stores coming next year.”

Roden said their growth offers a unique perk.

“We are going to be popping up all over the place,” she said, noting with five new stores coming, there are many opportunities for growth within the company. “We like to promote from within.”
