Auditions scheduled for new comedy


Shelby County Community Theatre has scheduled auditions for John Cariani’s romantic comedy Almost, Maine, to be directed by Larry Chaney as part of the Upstairs at 801 Series.

Auditions will be at the theater at 7 p.m. Jan. 26-27. Parts are available for four women and four men ages 21 and older. The audition will consist of cold readings from the script.

Performance dates are March 21-23.

Artists seeking grants applicants

Shelby Artists on Main, Inc. (a 501 c(3) non-profit organization) is accepting applications by artists for grant-funded workshops to take place throughout 2014. The second round of grant applications will be received through Feb. 15.

Library story hours

Story hours at the Shelby County Public Library, 309 8th St., will be at 10 a.m. for 2-to-3-year-olds and 11 a.m. for 4-to-5-year-olds on Tuesdays; 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for 2-to-5-year-olds on Wednesdays; 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. for “Baby Time,” birth to 2-year-olds, on Thursdays.
