The Shelbyville American Legion Post 37 baseball team won its first game of the district tournament, edging host Morehead, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon.

“It was a pretty tough ballgame,” said Post 37 Manager Jim Wiley, whose initial game against Morehead, scheduled for Monday night, was postponed by rain.

A trio of pitchers – Lance Shelton, Dan Sanders and Buddy Johnson – helped hold the hosts at bay.

Shelbyville played Ashland on Tuesday night in its second game in the 4-team, double-elimination tourney.
