The Shelby County 8-year-old all-star baseball team lost both of its games in the state tournament.

Boone County beat Shelby County, 5-0, Friday night, then Magoffin County won, 3-1, in a losers’ bracket game on Saturday in the machine-pitch competition in Nicholasville.

“The machine we used was nothing like our machine here,” head coach Darin Young said. “All of the other teams used this type of machine in their league. We played great in the field but couldn't hit. We struck out a lot. The kids couldn't pick it up.
